rick.fenlawRick Fenlaw was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, by what he calls “the greatest parents in the world who provided a strong foundation for a wonderful life.” Rick graduated from Amarillo High School and went on to the University of Texas where he played football for the Texas Longhorns, serving as the team captain in 1976. Rick graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and in 1977; he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals as a linebacker. While playing for the Cardinals, he suffered a career-ending knee injury. Rick began his new career in land work in 1979 with Steele and Associates, working as an independent landman in Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. In 1982, Rick became a Lead Broker working in the southern United States for a variety of energy companies, including: Arco, Gulf, Freeport-McMoRan, Sohio, Enserch, Key Petroleum, Cimerex Energy, Mitchell Energy, and Devon Energy, along with numerous smaller companies. Rick’s current endeavor started in 1999 as Rick Fenlaw and Associates, Inc. It has developed into Fenlaw Land Services with over 30 independent landmen who specialize in a variety of land services. Rick is a member of the North Texas Oil & Gas Association and the AAPL. He is also an active committee member of Young Life and The Church of the Good Shepherd in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he resides. Rick and his lovely wife Robin have been married for 25 years and they have three children: Frank, 21, and twin daughters, Molly and Meredith, 18. When asked about his life philosophy, Rick replied, “I don’t want to take life too seriously and I want to treat others the way I want to be treated. I love the Lord, my family, good friends, and a cold beer. I always tell my kids to work hard and then play hard.”
